Friday, 20 November, 2015 On may way to Santiago, Chile
My flight was booked with LAN but it is operated by Qantas, and as I stand before the Qantas counter (as instructed) I am advised that my flight is 'off the system'. Apparently it is a serious problem, since it calls for the attention of a senior officer. What if there is no seat available? Will my insurance compensate me for the cost of the trip? But they don't seem to worry, so after lots of computer operations, I am allocated a widow seat and wished 'Bon Voyage".
Maybe this episode has exhausted future mishaps.
Friday,20 November, 2015 (Still; I gained a day)
Santiago.
From the airport, on the way to the town. It is midday, the sun is shining and Santiago is beautiful. The snow capped mountains I have first seen from the plane surround the city. They make a fitting backdrop for this clean. green and carefully planned city. There are wide streets, long avenues, traditional buildings well maintained and new, modern houses. My hotel is in the Paris-Londres district, on a cobbled street facing a church used as a museum, and surrounded by gardens and shops. I am glad the day is long and I have time to walk around.

With Turistik I get to travel around the city. It is indeed worth a longer visit. How I would like to wander around the park, climb the funicular, admire the views and visit the museums and cafes. There is also patio bellavista with more fun things to see. Here I buy the lapislazuli jewelry.
And, of course, there is Plaza de Armas, Plaza de la Constitution with its famous Moneda Palace, described as 'best representative of neoclassical architecture'. The new architecture is worth admiring too. The manhattan style buildings mix well with the more conventional architecture.
